Tidy Districts Competition 2011
The Tidy Districts competition is run annually by Dun Laoghaire County Council to 'publically recognise the huge effort put in by local
communities in enhancing their environments and making them better places to live and work in.'
Leopardstown Heights has a proud record in this competition and was runner up in 2010. We're hoping
to go one better this year but we need your help to keep the estate looking its best.
Verges and grass outside houses are not the responsibility of the council. So if you are mowing
your grass please mow the outside verge, and if your neighbours is in need perhaps that too.
Mount Eagle Way is not the responsibility of the council but has no residents to take responsibility for it.
It is badly in need of volunteers to mow it now and then, so if you are mowing your front lawn, and your verge - perhaps take the mower around
to Mount Eagle way and give it a "hair cut" every now and then. As a primary entrance to our estate it projects a good image to all those who
pass through in addition to the judges of the Tidy Districts competition.

LUAS Parking: URGENT HELP NEEDED
12 May 2010
A number of us have been busily working behind the scenes to move this topic on. We have now hit a wall and need your support to get attention to this ASAP.
There is a delay on the council responding to our request to propose a solution for parking with the LUAS. We need you all to send an email to your council reps to ensure that they approve that we can proceed as an exceptional case (because we already have spent the money in 1 part of the estate, therefore can be a non spend impact to review extension to rest of the estate). They meet again in June and if we miss this then it will be another 3 months before they even meet again.... let alone do something. Please just send an email.

Clean Up Day 2010
Saturday April 17th was the day to get out and give our estate a good spring
clean! The sun came out and there was a great clean-up buzz around.
Some photographs here.
Kids and adults of all ages came out to take in the fresh air and
make the whole place a bit nicer. People did clean-up jobs on and near
their own houses and bigger communal jobs were also tackled. Rubbish
was picked up everywhere. Various walls and ESB boxes which needed
painting were done. A new planter was installed at the top of the
Green and artfully planted.
Encouraging biodiversity on the Green
is a goal for 2010 so our feathered residents weren't forgotten and
several bird-boxes were put into some trees on the Green. Cutting back
of overgrown hedgerow areas was postponed until after the nesting
season.A display of the wild flowers present on the recently
disturbed areas of soil was assembled and admired and added to by the
kids.
Future
plans include a nature walk in June, further restoration of the
reseeded tract through the Green & bordering of a wildflower patch.

Nuisance parking
Click here the standard terms and conditions of the pay-parking scheme
which DLRcoco promote as the solution to nuisance parking.
Currently, this is probably 'the best available' solution, in that it
stops all day & visitor parking during business hours, however at the
last committee meeting many still feel it is not good enough as it
'invites' non-residents into the estate, is 'ugly', and residents with
more cars(at their residence during business hours) than space, would
need to pay and annual 40 euro fee for a permit to keep a car on the
roadside during business hours.
I think it's possible to push for a more complete solution, but this is
what the Council are offering for starters.
Thanks,
Fionnuala
